Healthiest State Annual Walk - Central Park Lake

Meet at the Central Park Nature Center at Noon for a walk with Jones County Conservation around the Central Park Lake. 

The Annual Walk is an opportunity to join thousands of other Iowans statewide in walking for 30 minutes.

So come on out and enjoy a scenic walk while participating in the Healthiest State Iowa event!

OWLS Fall Kayaking Paddle - MISSISSIPPI RIVER - FINLEY'S LANDING TO MUD LAKE

Join Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones County Naturalists on October 4th for a kayaking adventure down the Mississippi River.  Explore the Dubuque River front from Finley's Landing to Mud Lake Park.  

This 7 mile paddle will take roughly 3-4 hours.  Enjoy the beauty of autumn on the Mississippi River  as you paddle below the beautiful bluffs of Iowa and Wisconsin.  

Cost: $10/person for kayak rental.  $5/person for bring your own kayak.  PFD, kayak, paddle, and shuttle provided with rental cost.  Shuttle available/optional for bring your own kayak.

Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls (OWLS) events are specifically geared towards adults.  These programs are educational, fun, and a great way to meet others interested in conservation and the outdoors.  OWLS programming is a partnership between Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones County Conservation departments.

Full Moon Hike

View nature in a new light as we walk the trails of CENTRAL PARK by moonlight!

Join the Jones County Naturalist at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 17th for a guided full moon hike.  

Moonlit hikes begin at the Central Park Nature Center! 

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy hiking footwear.  We will be traversing grassy mowed trails through a variety of habitats.   Bring a flashlight, lantern, or headlamp, if desired.
