Job Summary

The Jones County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of Jail Administrator.  The Jones County Jail Administrator will be responsible for directly supervising 10 employees and overseeing daily jail operations.  This is a Full-time position with a county benefit package.

Job Qualifications

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age; have a high school diploma or equivalent; perform essential elements of the position as defined in department's job specifications; able to follow jail policy and procedures, Iowa State Jail Standards, Code of Iowa; be jail certified within one year of hiring if not currently jail certified:  5 years supervisory/administrive background perferred but not required; able to work various hours and available for call after work hours; is a good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation; is not by reason of conscience or belief opposed to the use of force when appropriate or necessary to fulfill the person's duties; able to read and write the English language; possess a valid driver's license; good communications skills (written and verbal); able to write policy and procedures; problem solve; good organizational skills; book keeping skills; have computer knowledge as will be working Microsoft Office, Quicken and Records Management System programs.  Salary range is $58,140 to $68,278 depending on certifications, qualifications and experience.
