Job Summary
Duties: Under direction of the Park Ranger and Natural Resource Manager, this position will assist with all aspects of development and maintenance of county wildlife areas, parks, preserves, campground, and trails. Work is based out of Central Park and its recreational amenities, along with habitat management within outlying conservation and public hunting areas. Typical tasks include but are not limited to operation of various types of equipment and vehicles, handling and application of herbicides, prescribed burns, mowing and hand trimming, tree and limb cutting, refuse and debris removal, assisting campground guests and the public, as well as campsite and lodging upkeep. Applicants must be able to evaluate situations in the field and follow through accordingly, communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public, and work both independently and in a group capacity.
Employment Dates: Start and end dates are negotiable. Work Schedule: 40 hours/week. Typical work week Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM. Some weekend/evening hours are required. May be required to work in all types of inclement weather.
Salary Range: $15/hr.

Job Qualifications
Must be able to perform the necessary functions of the job, be motivated, a self-starter, and willing to learn essential skills.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Able to traverse potential rough terrain and steep slopes, and work in inclement weather conditions.
Experience in operation of tractors, mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, power, and hand tools is preferred.
Interest in conservation and/or parks and recreation is desired.
Must be 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record. Background check required for employment.
