It's Monarch Tagging Time!
The monarch migration has begun, and community members are invited to take part in this remarkable natural phenomenon through Monarch Tagging events at Central Park throughout September.
You can become a citizen scientists for a day by learning about monarch butterflies, helping net migrating monarchs, and tagging them as part of an effort to better understand and track their incredible annual migration.
Central Park Come-and-Go Monarch Tagging Events

Our come-and-go format allows you to stop by the Central Park Nature Center anytime between 1 and 5 p.m. You will learn more about monarch butterflies and their amazing migration, check out the tagging equipment, and, when conditions allow, help net and tag live migrating monarchs.
Whether you stay for an hour or spend the entire afternoon, this event offers an opportunity to experience the monarch migration firsthand while contributing valuable information to citizen-science research.
