Jones County Youth Conservation Crew Makes a Difference!

posted on 7/12/21

Another big THANK YOU to our Awesome Jones County Youth Conservation Crew kids! We were able to clear woody invaders from the Central Park Lake Dam and several prairie areas near the Nature Center and plant 250 swamp, common, butterfly, and whorled milkweed plugs, received through a Monarch Watch -Milkweed for Restoration Project grant, into prairie and wetland edge habitat at Central Park.    In addition, Youth Conservation Crew Members assisted with maintenance and data collection on Central Parks growing purple martin colony and installed signage into the counties new StoryWalk® Trail.   Youth looking for a way to volunteer are encouraged to contact the Jones County Conservation Administrative Office at (563)487-3541.   The Jones County Conservation Crew meets every Thursday morning during the month of June and on select volunteer days throughout the year.
