Celebrate Earth Day at Central Park and the Central Park Nature Center on Wednesday, April 22nd!   The Central Park Nature Center will be open to visitors from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Earth Day.  Check out the traveling FUNGARIUM exhibit and activities!

From 10:00 AM – Noon, stop by the Nature Center to take part in a community clean-up event as part of the Keep       America Beautiful Great American Cleanup and the Keep Iowa Beautiful Pick-Up Iowa campaign.  You’ll be assigned   an   area of Central Park to help pick up litter.  Please bring your work gloves and hiking footwear.  We’ll provide   garbage   bags, loaner buckets, and litter pickers. Be sure to check out the Nature Center displays, make some   pollinator seed   balls, and enjoy refreshments following the cleanup event.

Have pollinator plants you are thinning from your butterfly gardens?  Bring your extra plants to swap!    Our pollinator plant swap will be taking place from 9 AM - 4 PM outside below the Central Park Nature Center.   Bring a bucket and  take home some free pollinator plants for your garden.

Ever tried Yoga?  Join Carla Eilers of Zen House Yoga for a 20-minute calming yoga session over the lunch hour at noon. You can bring a Yoga mat if you have one.  Join this free yoga session at noon outside the lower level of the Central Park Nature Center.  In the event of light rain or drizzle this activity will be held at the parks south side open-air shelter.

Get your hands dirty and make some pollinator seed balls to take home and plant.  Our seed ball station will be set up in the lower level of the Central Park Nature Center from 1-4 PM.  Make and take as many seed balls as you will plant.   We'll have seeds for milkweed, native prairie, zinnia, and sunflower seed balls.

Come enjoy the sights and sounds of spring while making a difference in your community!
